What is MAP Movement?

MAP (Myofascial Activated Posture) Movement is a movement technique focusing predominantly on our fascia. This means that we use our own body to create movement into all directions of our bodies fascial suit and then strengthen into the space created. In MAP Movement we also focus on in depth breathing rehab as breath is the foundation of movement.

By partaking in a movement technique, you will get to know your own body a lot better as well as learn many ways in which you can help yourself giving you the power to manage your own symptoms.

MAP Movement individual sessions are one on one sessions with Martina where your fascial suit, muscle strength, and breathing pattern will be assessed using the 5 MAP Movement principles. This is a great place to start your MAP Movement journey as together a more patient-specific approach will be taken to help get clients moving and ready for a group class environment.

Comprehensive rehab approach

MAP Movement group sessions (and online classes) are a more financially sustainable, motivating, and fun way to help hydrate the fascial suite, which provides increased mobility and strength. Even though the group classes are not patient specific, bodies are moved and strengthened into ALL different spaces, which is a much more comprehensive rehab approach.

I always feel great after a MAP Movement class with Martina! I have battled with lower back pain since my pregnancy and MAP really helps release and work out all of the sore spots. It's an awesome and different type of exercise focusing on correct movement of your body, with some real 'muscle-burning' movements. I'm a busy mom with a full time job, so the online classes have been a perfect way to ensure I am still able to fit in some scheduled exercise - all from the comfort of my own home. My MAP Movement journey with Martina started almost four years ago when I was looking for in-person classes in Die Wilgers while pregnant with my second little one. Struggling with Knee and Hip Pain

MAP Movement has provided me with a strong foundation to build from. I have been mapping for 4 years. When I first started out, my health was not optimal, and I was not in a good way. I suffered from neck and lower back pain. As time went on, I started to gain the confidence and strength to take on new challenges. Today, I run Marathons, something I have never even thought about before I started out. I measured 178cm back when I started. Today I am 180cm. The proof is in the pudding. Neck and Lower Back Pain

I started MAP Movement in 2019 with in person classes once a week. I was struggling a lot with upper back pain due to my kyphosis as well as headaches. Physio and chiro treatment only provided me with short term relief, and I knew I needed a long-term relief. I heard about MAP and did some research on it and knew that this is something that might bring me this relief. MAP Movement for me could definitely be defined as the most amazing process. It changed my life or rather quality of life so much. I can move without restriction, go through the day without a headache and just be much more comfortable. After just a few months I could notice an improvement in my kyphosis and this was really a great improvement for me as this really bothered me a lot, not just the pain but also how my back looked and the fact that everyone could see it. The tips and tricks that I've learned and could incorporate in my everyday life also made a big difference and aided in my "healing". I can definitely recommend MAP Movement to each and everyone. No matter the problem, MAP Movement is your solution. Having a great instructor also makes the process much better, and I am very grateful for Martina and all her knowledge and passion for MAP Movement.

Upper Back Pain

Being a mom of 2 young girls and a music teacher for little ones I always considered myself to be active and quite mobile/flexible...until my MAP Movement journey began. I honestly started mapping to see what the hype was about and two years later I am hooked to say the least. Life Changing Experience!

I injured my back on my 19th birthday in February 2021. After rounds of physiotherapy and medication, I was still in constant pain with very limited mobility. My physiotherapist and orthopedic surgeon suggested Martina's MAP Movement sessions. I joined Martina's in person classes in May 2021. Since then, my mobility has improved immensely, and the pain is minimal.
